Got kids? You got a drug problem!

Updated: Aug 28, 2024

Yes you read that right. If you got kids then you absolutely have a drug problem! This statement may be hard to believe or even shocking at first but the fact of the matter is by middle school a child has already been offered illicit substances with opportunity to use them. I wish it wasn't this way but it is. It doesn't take a long trip down memory lane to remember our own childhood and the opportunities we had presented to us, never mind what we did with those opportunities.

Parents raising children today have it much harder then when we were growing up. The modern American society has done much to place us in this present predicament, what are we to do as parents? Isolate our children? Cram their schedules with endless activities out of fear they will fall behind or even worse get swallowed up by the prevailing culture?

Research shows this doesn't work.

How about become over protective, hyper strict, intrusive and ultra paranoid depriving them of the their childhood innocence in the name of security and protection? This approach doesn't work either. Or maybe we just throw up our hands, pray to God, cross our fingers and hope for the best? As much as faith is a part of the answer, faith by itself without action is not faith at all.

We as parents must take action and take action early if we are going to raise drug free kids and create healthy thriving families.

Here at Convergence, we address the right actions to take as well as when and how to take them. We value the importance of employing the right strategies in the right way, at the right time in order to ensure our children will grow up and remain free from drug and alcohol abuse their entire lives. For example having a plan to drug proof your kids, do you have one? Is it written down and age specific? Does it address the seven critical areas? Does it employ effective strategies to impart the necessary skills your child will need when the day comes they are confronted with the opportunity to use illicit drugs or drink alcohol? Will they be ready? Are you confident they will be prepared to successfully navigate this minefield at the tender age of middle school? If you don't have a written plan when will you make one? What will you write?

Are things getting better and easier in today's society?

If the answer to that question is 'Yes', then the information we provide here is not for you. But if the answer is a resounding 'NO', then you realize there are dynamics and undercurrents seeking to capture the minds of our children and circumvent our parental authority. I am glad to say we have found some common ground. At Convergence, building thriving families & drug free kids is our passion. We exist to serve you the parent, to bring the absolute best multifaceted approach with clear and easy to use tools to build & raise kids who grow up and remain drug free.

What a piece, insightful, drugs or drug abuse is one of the major issues parents are facing which cannot be wished away, it has to be dealt with appropriately. Thank you sir.
